CODE OF ETHICS FOR PARENTS

Starkey Little League - PARENT'S Code of Ethics

Each parent of a player participating in Starkey Little League should provide positive support, care and encouragement for his/her child to create a positive environment for his/her child’s sports experience. Each parent will:

  • Encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every game and practice.
  • Place the emotional and physical well being of his/her child ahead of any personal desire to win.
  • Insist that his/her child play in a safe and health environment.
  • Support the coaches and officials working with his/her child in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
  • Demand a sports environment for his/her child that is free of drugs, tobacco and alcohol and refrain from their use at all Starkey Little League events.
  • Remember that the game is for the children, not the adults.
  • Do his/her very best to make Starkey Little League fun for his/her child.
  • Ask his/her child to treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
  • Promise to help his/her child enjoy Starkey Little League by doing whatever he/she can, such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaching or providing transportation.
  • Require that his/her child’s coach be trained in the responsibilities of being a youth sports coach and that the coach upholds the Coach’s Code of Ethics.
  • Review the Handbook with his/her child and do what he/she can to help implement and enforce all Starkey Little League rules, regulations and procedures.
