RULES: TEE BALL

TEE-BALL

 

The tee ball division is for players who are league age 4 - 5 only.  This division prioritizes one-on-one time with volunteer coaches.  The purpose of tee ball is for players to learn the fundamentals of baseball and youth sports team activities.

Games will be played primarily Saturdays with the occasional weeknight games.  Coach / Friend requests are granted up to team roster limits. 

Parents, SLL is typically seeking team managers for this division.  If you feel you can offer knowledge and structure for this age group, please indicate when registering.  Our league offers a coaching coordinator to assist with lessons and drills make practice fun but educational.  A league official will reach out to discuss in more detail.  The more volunteers we have the more these tee ball player’s benefit.  

 

TEE BALL DIVISION RULES

1.)   The tee ball division is instructional.  No score will be kept at any time.

2.)   Games are 1 hour or 5 innings.  (At least 3 innings is suggested)

3.)   Managers/Coaches are allowed and encouraged to assist batters and fielders in the field.

4.)   Players will be given an opportunity to play every defensive position. 

5.)   The batting order will be rotated each game to ensure each player gets an opportunity for the final hit (home run).

6.)   Players begin the season hitting off of a tee.  After 3 games of the season players, with team manager approval, can have hit a coach’s soft toss throw instead of hitting off the tee.

7.)   The team at bat will bat through their entire lineup each half inning.  The last hitter each half inning will result in a home run for their team.

8.)   No outs or runs are recorded.

9.)   Each team will use all its players in the field.  (There are no “bench” players)

10.) The player in the pitcher position should not leave the pitching rubber until the ball is hit.

11.) There is no catcher position.

12.) Base runners are not to leave the base until the ball is hit (no base stealing).

13.) All runners stop when the ball comes back to the infield.  No advancing on an overthrow.

14.) For Saturday games, if there is a team waiting for the field at the conclusion of the game, please clear the dugout & field and have your team meeting off the field so we can keep all games on schedule.

15.) Please remind players and parents to clean out the dugout and bleachers prior to leaving the field.

16.) Starkey Little League is a NO SMOKING park.  We do not allow the use of any tobacco products during practices and/or games except at the designated smoking areas which are located past the bullpens on the side of each field.

17.) Please remember the reason we all get involved is for the kids.  Please make sure they learn not only the game of baseball but also good sportsmanship, discipline, and respect for others.  Most of all HAVE FUN!
